At the age of 10, Johnny knew what he wanted to be... a doctor! Uhh, No... be a movie star? Not likely. Be on the radio? Absolutely! Creating a mock radio show at the age of 10 and working on it every single day for 2 years landed him his first “on air” radio gig at the age of 12. Now, a seasoned pro and veteran holding down the number one afternoon show on Kiss 97.3 for 10 years long.

Johnny started at KISS in 1995 and left in1998 to pursue another project but was asked to return in 1999 because of his high ratings. “I was always very passionate about music for as long as I can remember, and being on the air and getting to play music for a living and entertaining people was a dream come true.” Johnny recalls calling KISS on the request line asking the dj’s to play his favorite songs and to give him a shot at being on the radio way back in the day.. “Persistence and patience are a virtue.” “Set your goals, be persistent, and let nothing get in the way.”

Favorite artists include, Jay Z, 50 Cent, Black Eyes Peas, and anything you can bob your head too! Eating New Mexican food (anything HOT) Traveling to Los Angeles to visit friends and family, playing basketball, and hanging with the fam are things Johnny enjoys doing. Hosting every shift from the overnight show to mornings and midday’s to nights and the afternoon show, Johnny Von has done it all.. “It’s a pleasure to still be on the air in Albuquerque on the number one station and being able to make my listener’s day a little bit better.” As one of the original members of KISS since 1995, you can expect nothing short of a good time listening to Johnny V weekday afternoons from 2-7 on Kiss 97.3.. “People want to hear their favorite music without all the unnecessary chatter in the afternoon, and I try to not get in the way of the music.”

Playing video games, playing basketball, and grubbin are just some of the things I absolutely enjoy! Long term goals for Johnny V? I see myself eventually crossing into the world of TV.
